Naming and keeping things congruent

One thing I have trouble with, even after I have developed my main plot, setup the visual flow of the story and begun creating the delicate bits that connect all the events and characters in an organic way, is naming.

Naming is something that can make an epic dialogue between two character and make it sound completely silly.

Being able to name your characters with believable sounding names can be extremely difficult. If you use names too dull it can water down your characters presence, and keep them from being memerable. On the other hand, if you use names far too high fantasy or exotic, it can make your events seem silly.

I typically start a list of names for characters, places, even events some times. I will make around 200 entries to begin, and expand after that if necessary.

This allows me not only get the creative juices flowing, but also helps break any writing blocks that may be plaguing me that day.

Thanks for stopping by today and please don't forget to subscribe if  you haven't yet.

Have a great day!
